For over 3 years now Raphi – who is also THE FED‘s Director of Fundraising and Marketing – has accompanied Ike as he told his story to thousands of students, footballers and others across the North West of England.
Sadly, Ike can longer do this and a long time ago Raphi made a solemn promise to him that when he could not, he would continue to tell his incredible life story to as many people as he could.
To do this Raphi has developed a 35 minute interactive presentation based on Ike’s Fed My Voice life story book – titled “Rest Their Souls” – and which includes videos of Ike telling parts of his story.
Andrew Gerschler, Head of History and Politics at Wellington said:
“The History Department would like to thank Raphi Bloom for visiting our Year 9 pupils today. Raphi delivered a truly insightful and engaging talk about the life of his good friend and Holocaust survivor Ike Alterman, a man very close to our hearts at Wellington.
Raphi’s presentation was both informative and thought-provoking, offering a unique perspective that enriched our pupils’ understanding of the Holocaust. We greatly appreciate him taking the time out of his busy schedule to keep Ike’s story alive by sharing it with us. Raphi even had time to answer some very thoughtful questions from our pupils too.
Such visits are invaluable in bringing history to life and inspiring our students. History can’t just be learned from textbooks and stories like Ike’s are an invaluable resource to remind us of the importance of remembrance, tolerance, and standing up against hatred and injustice.
Thank you, Raphi and also Ike, for a memorable and educational experience.”
If your workplace, organisation, school or place of worship would like to hear Ike’ story please email info@myvoice.org.uk and we will make it happen.
As Ike says – “remember my story because if you don’t, who else will?”
