Michelle Sallon from The Fed’s My Voice project accompanied My Voice storyteller Tomi Komoly to Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery on 31 January, to attend Stockport Council’s annual Holocaust Memorial event.

Michelle said, “The venue was incredibly atmospheric with its vaulted ceiling and amazing acoustics, which really enhanced the programme.  So much thought and work had gone into this – it included readings, poems, a performance by the ‘Voices in Achord’ choir, and an address by Rabbi Greg Bank of Cheadle Yeshurun Shul.

I was privileged to introduce Tomi who read from his My Voice life story book, Survival, Escape and New Horizons.” The event was accompanied by an art exhibition with works from four local primary schools who had learned about and reflected on this year’s theme of the Fragility of Freedom. Tomi is pictured with the Mayor of Stockport Cllr Graham Greenhalgh who introduced the event.
