We were delighted to be back at Burnley Football Club on 28 February with 95 year old Holocaust Survivor and THE FED My Voice Storyteller Ike Alterman BEM who told his life story to the clubs non-playing staff alongside Fed Director Raphi Bloom.
Ike’s powerful first hand testimony of surviving four Nazi concentration & death camps including Auschwitz Birkenau and a subsequent death march, followed by his arrival in the UK as one of the Windermere Boys and how he rebuilt his life was immensely emotional and his messages of tolerance, kindness and letting go of hate were so powerful to hear, especially now.
Ike’s talk was followed by a session on contemporary antisemitism with a focus on football which was delivered by Benjamin Sweiry of Maccabi GB.
