94 year old Holocaust Survivor and Fed My Voice Storyteller Ike Alterman told his life story to 300 Year 9 and 10 students at Falinge Park High School in Rochdale.

Falinge Park places a particular emphasis on studying the Holocaust as part of their history curriculum and have a special Holocaust Ambassadors programme.

Ike, who survived 4 Nazi death camps and a death march before being liberated and brought to the UK, spoke about his family and life in Poland before war, his experiences of life as a prisoner in Auschwitz – Birkenau, how he was liberated and how he rebuilt his life in the UK to become a husband, father and successful businessman. Students then asked him a diverse array of questions which, together with listening to Ike speak, enhanced their understanding of the Holocaust and the lessons to be learnt from it.
